I have been a part of TÜV SÜD PSB since 1994, first as an Intern, then as a full time employee in 1995. My life in TÜV SÜD PSB has been an exciting and challenging one.
Currently as the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Industry Service division, I am responsible for introducing inspection services into the ASEAN region, including Singapore.
Thanks to TÜV SÜD PSB's efforts in promoting training, learning and growing employees; I am able to utilize and strengthen my skills, knowledge, and ability in managing the growth of the business. From an Engineer to a Senior Vice President leading a business unit, I have, and still am, enjoying every moment of my working experience in TÜV SÜD PSB whom has provided me with every opportunity to excel and execute my tasks with confidence.

In the course of my work, I have the chance to handle innovative household products and product prototypes which have yet to be launched in the market. Testing these products to tests standards and requirements have enhanced my technical knowledge and widened my horizon. I have also been given overseas assignments in Japan, Malaysia and Thailand for on-site testings which have provided me remarkable experiences to meet and work with people from other countries, to understand their culture and languages.
I engage in in-house testings and field works, prepare documentations, perform information mining, participate in technical discussions with customers and colleagues. My daily work is non routine and dynamic as there are often different testing experiences employed, various technical know-hows explored, different technological problems to be resolved, diverse tasks to be performed, everyday.
I would say, everyday is an exciting and challenging day for me.

My current position as an Assistant Marketing Manager of TÜV SÜD PSB covers a wide spectrum in scope. My key role is to support the Marketing Manager in the overall coordination and execution of all marketing, branding and communication related activities, ranging from conceptualising and implementing specific marketing strategies for targeted clients, events planning and management for corporate visits and client-servicing events as well as facilitating internal communications to disseminate and process cross-departmental updates.
The organisation has definitely given me the opportunity and platform for continuous learning and growth. I look forward to a fulfilling career with TÜV SÜD PSB for the coming years.

Over the past 17 years, I have been involved in various roles and responsibilities covering EMC testing, sales and marketing, setting up PSB Test Thailand, and integrating and managing TUV SUD PSB’s Thailand office.
One of my most satisfying experiences in the company would be setting up the office of PSB Test Thailand in 2002 with two local staff at the Thailand Science Park. It was the very first overseas laboratory investment for the former PSB Corporation. The Thailand office has grown from strength to strength, with established labs in Food testing, Electrical safety, and Environmental and EMC testing. Together with the support from our overseas colleagues, we have created a dynamic, service oriented and dedicated workforce, overcoming different business culture and language barrier, providing me with the most memorable personal experience.

One of the key things I enjoy about TUV SUD PSB is the immense sense of satisfaction from being given opportunities to pioneer new areas of testing, right from the planning down to the execution and seeing the projects through. The work is never routine as I face new challenges everyday, giving me the opportunity to be exposed to the many areas a mechanical engineer can be involved in.
The team spirit among the colleagues is amazing. It is never difficult to ask for ideas or tap on the wealth of knowledge and expertise of the more experienced colleagues. Though everyone may be busy with their own work, the readiness to help each other makes for an excellent working environment which I definitely enjoy and cherish.

What attracted me to the company was the amount of recognition it commands in the market and among industry peers. From helping customers on their product certification inquiries to playing an active role in the issuing of the corresponding certificates, I see my roles and responsibilities expanding, adding value to my professional growth as a result of the exposure acquired on the job.
Work involves alternating between days spent in the office reviewing applications submitted by clients, attending to queries and visiting clients’ factories to conduct on site inspections and audits. I am constantly stimulated and excited about the wide variety of tasks assigned.

My job involves the testing of a wide range of products from food samples to pharmaceutical equipments for the presence of bacteria. One of the more memorable work assignments involved the collection of food samples from the prison and it was indeed an unexpected eye opener!
The technical training provided by the company cultivated and reinforced my interest in the subject of microbiology and I can put to full use the theories and knowledge acquired in school.

I joined the former PSB Corporation as an industrial attachment student from NUS in 2004. I was inspired by the professionalism and the can-do attitude of the PSB engineers and the stint affirmed my decision to pursue a career in engineering.
The work involves ensuring that tests performed are in compliance with the specifications, upholding stringent quality. In addition, there are always interesting and new test setup and engineering challenges that my team and I face, providing us the opportunities to grow technically.
The company offers plenty of career development opportunities catered for young engineers like myself, such as being appointed to represent the company to sit on the Spring Singapore Technical Committee for Singapore Packaging Standards as well as being nominated for the company’s Young Professionals Programme.
I am looking forward to the new challenges ahead.
